The results for the 2003 running of the Stew Perry Topband Distance
Challenge have been posted to the web. You can find them by going to
http://web.jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html.
The next Stew Perry contest is on the weekend of December 18/19th.
One rule change is being made - the multiplier for working a QRP station
(that we get the log from) is being increased to 4X instead of 2X. Now,
you get as many points for working a QRP station as he does for working
you.
Plaques will be mailed in November and K1PX will also be sending out the
certificates.
Log check reports are available via return e-mail sent to me.
And now for the Boring Report (it has been a long time since I have had
anything to report). Yesterday, after erecting my 2nd vertical for the new
80 meter 4 square, I spread out the 160 meter radials for the loaded tower.
Listened early and heard CO8LY. Checked the band again around 0430 and
DF2PY had a very nice signal. Took me about 20 minutes to get my station
QRV to transmit - and Wolf's signal had dropped some, but we did make a
QSO. This ends a 19 month gap since the last time I worked Europe on 160
(and yes, it was Wolf again). It sure is great to have the DF2PY beacon
on the band - and it sure felt great to go to bed after working Europe on
160 meters.
