Hello Top Banders,
The UMTS 3G network for Singapore took two years to get running and now
it's working so time to move on to another challenge. The 160m antennas
will be coming down in a week or so and the rigs/antennas/junque will be
packed and shipped to the new house in Batam (OC075) for use at YB5/9V1GO.
Since September 2003 almost 1250 discrete calls have been logged on 160m
from 9V1GO with 31 Zones and 117 DXCC. All band total (VHF 80-10) 214 DXCC
40 Zones and except for 12m well over a hundred on each band.
The Indonesian call will be active for a few weeks until camp is set up in
V8, YB0, or elsewhere in SE Asia. 3G is coming on big time so there is no
shortage of 'hired gun' opportunities in this part of the world. The big
driver is a place that carries a good prefix with it for Top Band. 9V1PC
Peter and I will get his antennas sorted in the next couple of weeks at his
new QTH so 9V will still be represented on the low bands. Peter has a new
amp and we will also have a few 'aerial' antennas for his arsenal to keep
the link budget up from here in the Lion City.
It has been a pleasure to work old friends and to make new ones these past
many months, CU all from the new QTH.
