After a handful of consecutive evenings with European openings, I have
had two in a row without hearing Europe. What is interesting is that
the stations just north of me (250 km) were able to work Europe last
night. K7SS (was he visiting N7UA's shack?) worked OH3XR with a 579 signal
into Finland on peaks - but Marko was not making it down to Oregon. K7FL,
just 20 km or so north of me was able to hear Marko occasionally.
Marko worked KL7HBK and put a recording of the excellent signal here

YV1DIG did make it into the log however, but I was unable to hear anything
from PZ5RA (although I might have been a few minutes late to his frequency).
The EA8s which were good copy the previous evening were not making it at
all last night. It felt like the aurora oval was furthur south than it
was the previous evening. Even the east coast was weak.
Often - when things recover from an event like this - conditions are
excellent - so we will tune in tonight for another episode of the
Topband Chronicles.
