Hello again,
I just want to thanks all of you ( Bob, Mel, Greg, Ken and others ) who have
responded to my interesting experience on 160 with the Hy Gain
Hy Tower. I am apparently using the older version with the base loaded coil.
Many of you have suggested
using Teflon material so I will go ahead and upgrade to this material.
Otherwise I am very pleased with the performance
of this antenna and have recently yielded many first time European contacts
on 80 meters. I have not yet heard/worked Europe on 160
yet with this antenna as I am located in Central California and away from
the ocean.
I do want to continue using this antenna on the full 40, 80 and 160 meter
portions of the band ( CW and SSB ) so if I upgraded to a inverted L
or top loaded configuration, will I lose the ability to use the antenna on
the full 40, 80 and 160 meter portions of the band ?
