160 meter QRP effort: The Great Salt Lake of Utah is indeed great. With a
conductivity nearly 4X that of sea water it provided a great ground for a
balloon vertical. And that with nothing more than a short ground rod pounded
into the sand two feet out into the lake. The effective ground resistance
was 10 ohms. After a couple hundred feet over wet, salty sand the signal had
10 miles of lake to the East. Weather permiting, the balloon vertical will
be tried again in the CQ 160M 'test with a much better connection to the
water and a different QTH providing a clear shot over water to the East.
What pseudo-Brewster angle?
