Stew,

Just checked a Radio Shack hybrid splitter/combiner with my spectrum
analyzer + tracking generator. Above 3 MHz, loss is 4-5 dB through
the UHF TV band. At 1.8 MHz, it's about 8 dB. These aren't precise
measurements because the analyzer is designed for 50 Ohm systems, and
I only terminated one of the splitter ports in 75 Ohms. In any case,
the loss figures are close enough and acceptable because you can
easily make up for these kinds of loss numbers in the receiver chain.

As for port-to-port isolation...this is a "hybrid" coupler so it
should be pretty good. It's so inexpensive that you should be able to
find if it's adequate for your setup by just trying it.
