Looking for advice from someone who may have actually done
this. Can't decide which is the best way.
I'm getting ready to erect a temporary short Beverage for the
upcoming VP6 operation. This direction is the most
difficult heading for me to try and cover due to property
restrictions. The end result will be a 300-foot Beverage about
three feet (maybe lower) above ground (low to reduce the velocity factor).
The problem arises when I have to cross a wire fence. The fence is
four feet tall and made of 6-inch x 6-inch wire mesh, with a couple
of strands of barbed wire on top.
My question is this: Would it be better to (A) raise the antenna a
few feet just where it must cross the fence, or (B) cut an
approximately 1-foot diameter hole in the mesh and run the Beverage
wire through the fence.
I've crossed over fences before, but never gone through one. Anyone
have any experience with this?
