Unfortuantly, during Sunday's windstorm, a prominent midwestern contester
lost a tower due to a guywire slipping through a professionally installed
nicopress fitting.
I am curious to calculate the loads seen on these guy wires, but in order
to procede, I wonder if anyone out there knows the following specs for
AB-105 (heavy duty type) tower:
Section weight
Section equivalent wind area, or equivalent wind area cross-section
Section allowed moment
Section allowed compression
Any figures or leads would be appreciated, especially the wind area.
This will help in assuring that the guys and anchors are correctly
sized when installing the new, bigger tower.
Thanks,
