Re bolt torques: The Rohn manual says "Tighten the nut securely, but be
careful not to strip the threads."

Re base: There were 2 models of 56 foot towers:
1. the light duty AX (top section 10 3/16" at widest point).
2. the medium duty HAX (top section 12 3/4" at widest point).

They also made a heavy duty version, the HDX, but it was only available to
48 feet.

The Rohn manual states the base for the AX56 is 43" square at top and 48"
deep with a 6 inch bell at the bottom, 2.1 cu. yds of concrete.

The base for the AX56 is 46" square at top and 48" deep with a 6 inch bell
at the bottom, 2.3 cu. yds of concrete.

They also made a no-concrete cylinder base, but it was only supposed to be
used on towers 48 feet high or less. I used one on a BX40, very easy and
sturdy.

FYI: The AX56 was rated for 2.3 sq ft at 61.2 mph, the HAX56 for 6.4 sq ft
at 61.2 mph or 2.3 sq ft at 70.7 mph.

The AX series was replaced by the sturdier BX series. The BX56 is rated for
6 sq ft at 70.7 mph and the HBX56 is rated for 10 sq ft at 70.7 mph. Big
improvement!
