To address your interesting posting about the C-3, but there is no
"bullpuckie" involved. The C-3 follows the laws of physics right down the
line. The stated gain and F/B figures are reasonable, within practical
boundaries, capable of being accurately modeled and verfied. No smoke and no
mirrors at all.
The C-3 simply does what the specs say it does. Perhaps what the C-3
demonstrates best is that an antenna truly having 4.5dB forward gain over a
dipole is an excellent antenna. We did our homework before deciding on the
design goals and the ultimate design of the C-3 a bit over 4 years ago.
Actually, it is almost exactly 4 years ago since the first one was built.
Subsequent models using C-3 innovations, such as the enhanced open sleeve
feed system (exciting on 3 or more bands) and the forward stagger element
placement have been incorporated into many additional antennas. The antennas
feature no traps or log periodic cells and can cover several bands with
monoband performance, because that is what they actually are:
multi-monobanders.
Recently on this reflector, LB Cebik has been posting more data about the
forward stagger type of multiband antennas. One might want to take a look at
his web site for more details.
