If you want to do it right, Al, spend the few $ and buy the
right parts. The best CATV connectors/splices are made
by Gilbert Engineering in Glendale, Ariz near Phoenix. I
don't have the particulars on hand, but they're on West
Camelback Rd.
The very very close second is LRC in Horseheads, NY.
You may also want to contact an accessories
place such as Telewire in Denver area or Toner in the Philly
area and enclose the splice in a weatherproof container.
Of course if you're a true ham, you'll make a connector out
of PCB standoffs, aluminum foil and hose clamps and weatherize
with ten-day old peanut butter.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Splicing CATV Hardline
I'm looking for a reliable way to splice CATV hardline so it can be run
through a couduit. I used a homebrew connection last year, but it
failed over the winter. I havn't opened up the conduit yet, but I
suspect contraction during the winter was enough to make the connection
come apart. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
