Thanks for elaborate answer Tom, I know all that.
I haven't seen the figures answering my question.
I can interpolate and guess too and have EZNEZ to "design" antennas on the
paper.

I repeat my question:
Did anyone compared and measured performance of vertical antennas over salt
water (or salt water beach) with few (1,2,4,8) radials elevated around 0.01 -
0.02 wavelength vs. many (>50) elevated or on the salty ground (just touching
the water)? I am looking for some figures showing the difference and want to
get the indication if it is worthwhile to "bother" to install many radials in
the portable situation.

Like, if I have optimized (bestest) vertical with TWO radials over salt water
and YOU (anybody) have (bestest) vertical with 60 radials over salt water.
What IS the difference measured REAL LIFE (impedance, FS, etc.) between them
two? How much would YOURS be? mV, Ohms, ???
Like I can stick vertical in the ocean, is it worthwhile to put 60 radials on
it or will few be close enough, by how much?

I talk to Team Vertical, I know how "lousy" vertical with few elevated
radials works on the beach. I beat CQ WW SSB LP SSB and HP CW US records with
two "elevated" verticals on the beach, etc, etc, I read all the books (I
have), but have not seen the answer to MY question.

Can enyone help how to formulate the question better, or is Internet fuzyying
up things :-)
or Fuggetaboutit and measure it myself? (I am lazy beach BU/m and don't want
to do it, if someone has dunit.)

Snow is melting slowly, so mebbe I will put my wet contest suit on and head
for the beach.

It is amusing to see how the threads take off in various directions and how
people answer questions not asked, and don't answer questions asked.
I have another question: what is happening to (RF) wavefront at the beach,
but I am not going to aks it. :-)
