I'm a coward that way too!  I also put mine down part way when the wind
kicks up.  Mine is overloaded and I'm a bit jumpy about it so I never
put it in the position of having to meet its specs.

What lube do you use on the cable?  I've left mine dry but I lube the
pulleys with Silicon lube.
