A nearby ham bought one and installed it as described in the
instruction in a clear area. He had a sub-mobile-whip-signal on 160
meters, and wasn't much better on 80 meters.

My low dipoles, at about 50 feet absolutely blew him away on 160 and
80, and a Hygain "no radial" vertical of mine whipped him on 40.

He installed a base loading coil in a mast made out of that antenna,
and picked up a very large amount on 160. As I recall, it was about
20 dB change. On 80, it also helped a whole bunch also, but he had to
run out and change taps.

The antenna models to have significant loss on low bands, decreasing
to a few db loss on some higher bands compared to a vertical without
a ground.

By the way, he installed a Butternut vertical and is quite happy with
it despite having to add a loading coil on 160. Next time I hear him,
I'll tell him your friend is thinking of changing a Butternut to a T-
25. I'd bet he gets excited!
