WOW! Makes my back hurt just looking at the picture! I may have tried this a
couple years ago but no longer! Ladders scare the heck out of me, especially
stuff like this. About 18 Months ago I fell off a 12 foot step ladder while
working on my new shop. I was trying to reach to put something on the roof
and the ladder started to "walk" a little next thing I know I am on the
ground in extreme pain. Thank God my wife was around when I did it (she is
also an EMT) due to the fact it was about 10 Deg that day and I could not
move I hurt so bad. One trip to the ER (hopefully this will be my one and
only ambulance ride), a cat scan of my back, mild hypothermia and one broken
back I learned my lesson about taking ladders for granted.
Give me a tower ANY day.

Your picture is a bit unnerving to me! Go get the right ladder!!!!!! ;-)

I have a ceiling fan in which the flywheel broke. Unfortunately,
the 12 ft step ladder wouldn't reach the mounting, as this fan is
installed in a room with a 22 ft ceiling. So what did I do? Get the
extension ladder and bungie cord it to the step ladder. It's a
strange feeling climbing an extension ladder that's not leaning
against something at the top :.) I got the fan down OK. Hopefully
it will go back up as uneventfully later this week. Pic of the set
up at http://w2up.home.mindspring.com/ladder.jpg

BTW, as I got above the step ladder, the whole thing did start to tip
forward, so my wife was standing on the bottom rung, to hold it in
place.
