Pete,
I assume from your omission, that the antenna is pointing in the right
direction, and that the indicator is the problem. The indicator is driven by a
DC
motor via a belt. The belt becomes stretched over time, and the motor has
brushes which do wear out. I have had both fail, and the symptoms were the
same.
