Doug

I'm retired from a large public electric utility and a lot of our safety
meetings had films of people doing stupid things. I'd much rather learn
from someone else's mistakes than make my own...

Granted... film of a depression where the body hit may be a bit over the
top. But, showing Bubba sitting on the limb while he cuts it off from
the tree is a bit easier to stomach as well as a bit humorous...

I don't like watching films where people stick their arms into places
where they will get chopped off or burned off but it is certainly
something that will remind me that maybe it is something I should be
careful about doing myself..

I have found that most accidents are due to at least 2 to 3 or more
really stupid mistakes on the part of the decedent...

Personally, I think that anything you can do to get people thinking
about safety is a good thing. I was a foreman of a crew and I did my
best to let my crew know that I wanted them to come back into the shop
at the end of the day looking just as pretty (or not pretty) as they
were when they left the shop in the morning... nothing like a 480 volt
arc right in front of you to really ruin your day and your face.... My
priorities were "safety", "quality of work" and "quantity of work" in
that order....
