Subject: Tri Ex T-20 Tower Sections
W4ETO is looking for one or two 20 ft sections of Tri-Ex T-20 tower.
For ETO/ALPHA's club station in Canon City, CO, in '87 we put up 120' of T-20
and a big HyGain LP. But nobody had time to operate.
In 1989 I reactivated my personal station W4ETO at 10,650' - on the
Continental Divide above Breckenridge, CO. Got the call W0ID in 1996..
Despite being "2 miles high" in a dense lodgepole forest, that QTH was in a "no
antennas" neighborhood. Luckily the adjacent old gold mining claim wan't
subject to covenants and I was able to secure on it a perpetual easement for an
80-90' tower. The trees screened the tower from view except from miles away...I
never had an tower or TVI complaint in 17 years of DXing & contesting, but was
limited to 90' height.
We moved to the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains of VA in '07. Bought
several beautiful acres of rolling pasteur & forest (elevation 0.2 miles!) Now,
finally, W4ETO is ready to get back on the air w/beams a little higher ~{;-)
Sure would appreciate a note to w4eto@verizon.net if anybody knows where I can
find another section or two of T-20 in excellent or very good shape.
Thanks, guys.
73,
Dick W4ETO/W0ID
