I have the new design, expensively updated by M2 at the beginning of
this year.
Nothing but problems since and I ultimately switched to a Green Heron.
Works perfectly and without all the hash and noise the Orion controller
made.

last year my orion just stopped....would not go ....

pulled it out ,,,, took apart ,,,,
a screw holding the motor to the base enclosure had become loose
allowing the motor to bounce about a bit,,,,and it busted one of the
conductors. to the motor.. it was a solid not stranded ....i think.....
but guess they did not plan on the DC motor moving around.

Aside from the grief of cranking up the tower high enough to get the
2800 out... the repair went fast.

been using the Green Heron controller for last two years ,,,,nice
box....
understand that M2 re designed the controller, making it more friendly.
