I have a standard tennamast for my 6 meters yagi (see pictures on qrz.com).
I would go undoubtely for the braked winch and I think Tennamast have some
offers on them. In case the replacement of the winch imply an easy access to
the cable ends I would replace the entire cable as well. 73s

I have a wall mounted Tennamast Adapt-a-mast, the luffing winch has
always been a bit dodgy to use as it is at an awkward angle and is
unbraked, now the question is could I replace it with a braked winch, the
tower starts from vertical so no load on the winch but as soon as it
starts luffing then there is weight, would a braked winch be safe in this
circumstance or should I stay with the unbraked variety.
