Now multiple steppir antennas would work.

For many years, W7WW ran a tribander and a 2 el 40, with a Steppir Dipole between the two for SO2R. That setup worked great! A nice straight dipole at 75 feet is a kickass antenna! The beauty of that setup is that the Steppir is always tuned to a band other than the run band, so it doesn't detune the tribander on the run band. The Steppir might even have gotten some gain from the parasitic elements of the tribander.

After many years, the Steppir fell apart in a storm, and now W7WW runs a VA6AM Triplexer System, which works even better than the old setup.
