For the last time, I was not advocating Polygon rod. Of course, it is possible to incorrectly apply big-grips to Phillystran, and if you're building a couple of 160-foot towers it makes sense to spend some more to be sure.

There are no shaky Phillystran terminations - what???

I have lots of experience with the Polygon rod - it is bad news - I had a
fiberglass rod break.

DXE supplies Phillystran - it can last lots of years if installed correctly -
It is what is on all 13 towers at K3LR

I was not suggesting that he use fiberglass rod instead, because I'm
well aware of the problems people had with spontaneous deterioration.
My only point was to suggest he explore the possibility of a bulk buy of
Phillystran, as a way of bringing down the cost without resorting to
used material with perhaps shaky terminations.

I recall back maybe 20 years ago that PVRC members put together a group
buy of fiberglas guy rod from the manufacturer. Instead of risking used
Phillystran, or paying $2.05 a foot from DXEngineering, for such a
major project you might get together with others and explore doing a
bulk purchase from the manufacturer. The stuff might be available in
1000-foot rolls for a considerably more reasonable price.
