Thank you everyone for a lot of great ideas ! I appreciate your input.  
I gave the vinegar and salt a try with a small stiff acid brush and it 
worked just fine after several minutes. I rinsed as directed then 
followed up with some 91% IPA to help dry between the strands. Worked FB
