It is unfortunate but the two databases were hacked into. No data was lost
but a number of extraneous records were added. Unless you knew what to look
for, you probably wouldn't even notice them but there are some extra
records in the CALL3.TXT file.

I had to spend some time documenting and emailing some of the ISPs in the
US, UK, and Netherlands informing them about their customers and I spend
some time beefing up the registration code. I had to shut off many folks in
China - some where about 32 million IP addresses and unfortunately it also
shut off a few in Australia and NZ but that was temporary. Many in China
are permanently shut off.

People have asked my why they need to register in order to put their info
into the database and this says it all. Given there is a website on the
Internet, some fool will attempt to do anything. It is a sad fact of life
that someone has to get their rocks off attacking an insignificant
database. At least now, when someone tries to hack in this manner, the
process is automated enough to collect all the necessary data and mail it
off to the ISP. I hope their effort brings them their just rewards.

On a brighter note, we're up to 1868 entries in the VHF & Up database and
getting closer to that 2000 mark.
