2 years ago I through out a distance based contest, it likely needed
tweaked. But you subtracted the first number of a 4 grid exchange then the
2nd, with a maximum multiplier of 10 for e-skip.
IE CN 72 to CN 76: 7-7=0, 6-2=4 , 4 is the multiplier
CN 72 to CN 95: 9-7=2, 5-2= 3, 2+3=5, 5 is the multiplier
CN 72 to CM 87: 8-7=1, 7-2= 5, 5 +1 =6
Grids farher away than 10 are only multiply by 10
Same grids count as one.
I know this sounds complicated.
Its as simple as counting the grids on a map with your finger.
A program could be done on this

6 grids are ideal if there is a gps unit that uses these for reading while
driving. That might spur more activity, as you work a rover once in a grid
square and maybe try again when hes deeper in. Id by a gps unit that did to
play along.
Im not sure about band multipliers because an extra band is a multiplier in
itself. But 200 mile 10 ghz contacts should be worth more than the same on 2
meters. Maybe double points at 900 mhz?
