Hi Jeff, Ron, and Phil et al.
I am sorry but I could not make it for the 222 Sprint. I have been sick
for 4 weeks, and it has gotten worse in the last few days. I think I got
some influenza bug over the sinus and chest infection I have been fighting
forever. In short, I feel miserable, and the road has washed out that runs
up to my shack. You cannot believe the devastation around here from the
last Nor'easter. I just read that 75% of the roads in the next town are
badly damaged. In my one road trip to the medical clinic, it looks like the
Lebanon roads are in no better shape either. It is hard to travel anywhere
as there are so many roads washed away. So I guess I should not feel too
badly that my woods road also washed away. If I was not so sick I would have
walked the half mile through the mud and muck and driving rain, and run the
sprint in a 34 degree building, but I figured it would set me back fighting
this cold even more. So I missed it entirely. That makes two sprints that I
could not operate from my main shack. I am hoping that I can make the 432
Sprint.
After the last storm, I was worried that maybe the 432 array had fallen
over, but it is still there. Winds here on Monday were over hurricane force.
I was up at the shack Sunday morning during a snow storm, and before the
storm really hit, and retrieved my 3600 watt genset. Good thing because I
lost power at the house early on Monday. I have not made it up the hill
since, but the towers all seem to be there when viewed thru binoculars from
the house.
    Looking for better weather,

Dave K1WHS
