Rob Sherwood has recently posted a new presentation on his website called
"Roofing Filters, Transmitted IMD & Receiver Performance" in PowerPoint and
PDF formats. Also posted is an MP3 audio file. Play the audio and follow
along with the PPT or PDF. You will need a good hour or so to go thru it. At
the end of the presentation someone asked about AGC and he talks for another
30 minutes about AGC in modern rigs. This was presented to the Boulder,
Colorado Amateur Radio Club in February, and it is found at

I think it is outstanding !
These issues are certainly important for HF contesting, but many of them
even more so at VHF/UHF where we often have other gain stages ahead of the
"IF radio" that further reduce the numbers.
If a radio of interest is not in the charts, you may be able to find its
data on the ARRL website of product reviews and put it on the chart
yourself.
