Wow. Don and Paul make me feel ancient - hi. I came on the weak-signal
VHF scene in 1965 as a Novice with a Heathkit Twoer. Since there were no
repeaters then, I started contacting local DNR personnel and managed to get
the use of mountain top fire towers for VHF contests. The greatly
increased range from the fire towers and a few tropo openings got me hooked
on VHF weak-signal. The rest is history, including several years operating
contests with K3LNZ/8 on a mountain qth near Spring Gap, WV . WA3EOQ
