I would agree with this IF the Cabrillo logs contained ALL the needed
information. Unfortunately, they usually don't. Please note that true
Cabrillo is only used for ARRL events according to Trey. Various
psudo-Cabrillo formats are floating around for other events, but they are not
necessarily "approved" by the contest sponsor. For example, in CQP last year
I received logs with at least four different Cabrillo-like formats.. all
different (in addition to about 15 different ASCII formats). I would love to
get the Cabrillo standard expanded to all events but, having tried that
route, it doesn't seem possible.

The point I want to make is that individual contest sponsors (log checkers)
may or may not be able to handle a Cabrillo format without also seeing the
normal SUM file. I can only speak for CQP in this regard, but I think most
other events are in a similar situation. Certainly for CQP, dupe sheets and
mult sheets are a thing of the past. Any format log can be handled as long as
they are in text and the QSO info is in fixed columns. The minimum additional
info needed includes:
your name / call
your operating QTH (may be different from mailing address)
your address (including email)
your classification(s) (SO, MS, school, QRP, etc..)
your club (for the club plaque)
your claimed score (specifically the number of CW Qs, PH Qs, and mults ...
not just the total. Band breakdowns are not needed, but don't hurt.)

Its amazing how many logs I receive that are missing needed info. Regardless
of which event you enter, please read over your log before you send it in and
make sure you have this minimum information included.

Thanks & 73,
