[WriteLog] wav format incompatible???

Thanks to several for providing the infomation about properties.  
QUESTION: Is there any universal conversion to convert all wav.files to the 
same properties?
I originally recorded all my alphabet and numerals, etc. by going to 
Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder using the default properties there.  
Now when I "Record on the Fly" the default properties are different and the 
wavs are incompatible.
