[WriteLog] Enter sends exchange/qrz with RTTY

Esteemed Reflectees,

I am wondering if there are any RTTY ops managing to use the "Enter sends
exchange/qrz" function within Writelog?

I use this function very heavily in my CW contesting as it helps reduce the
number of "which key to press" decisions I need to take. I do find that
after 36 hours of a 48 hour contest such decisions otherwise become
unnecessarily demanding.

I'm a CW op and for sure no RTTY expert but I played using WL in the BARTG a
few weeks back and again over the weekend in the SPDX. In both cases I had
to revert to using a sequence of F keys for CQ calls, exchange sending and
the rest because I just couldn't get "Enter sends exchange/qrz" to work..

In CW contests "Enter sends exchange/qrz" allows me to call CQ, send
exchanges and terminate each QSO solely with the use of the enter key. It
does this through a context sensitive memory access scheme. Say for example
my CQ is in F2 buffer, my exchange info in F3 and my terminator in F4, with
"Enter sends exchange/qrz" enabled then if I press return while the cursor
is in the empty Call field my F2 CQ is sent, if I press enter while the
cusor is in the Call field but with a call there then my F3 exchange is sent
and once the cursor has left the Call field then my terminator is sent.

In a CW contest this might run as follows:

Return key pressed with:

1. Cursor in empty call field ----
P3F
2. Cursor in call field with W5XD in there ---- W5XD 5NN
121
3. Cursor in exchange field ----
TU

By the by, what is sent when the call field is empty is just my call as the
last thing I want to do in the middle of a run is start calling CQ but I do
want to be able to identify myself. My full CQ call would reside in another
F key buffer for use when the pile dries up. Typically if my short CQ (my
call) is in F2 then I would put my long CQ, which might be TEST P3F P3F TEST
into Shift F2. Sadly, at the moment this means I have to depart from just
pressing enter to make a full CQ call as I have to press Shift + F2. It
would be much better if I didn't have to think about which F key I needed to
hit and instead I could just press Shift + Enter with the cursor in a blank
call field to achieve this. Similarly, I would like to put a cut number
exchange in F3 and an uncut version in Shift + F3 and be able to send the
uncut exchange by just pressing Shift + Enter while the cursor is in the
Exchange field.

I mailed Wayne last year asking if he would look at adapting Shift + Enter
for use with the context sensitive capability of "Enter sends exchange/qrz"
and he agreed. Alas, Wayne is a very busy chap and he hasn't got around to
this just yet. I hope he will do soon.

Back to RTTY!

The contents of F2, 3 & 4 would of course be very different for a RTTY
contest but the principle is exactly the same. The fly in the proverbial
ointment is that if I pick up a call from Rttyrite window it places the call
in the Call field but immediately tabs forward to the Exchange field. This
means I have to tab back around to the Call field otherwise Writelog will
send the QSO terminator when I should be sending the exchange. Tabbing back
around to the Call field is not a viable option so effectively "Enter sends
exchange/qrz" doesn't work for me on RTTY.

This problem would be easily solved if when I picked up a call from the
Rttyrite window the cursor stayed in the Call field instead of tabbing
forward. Maybe there is a setting I have been unable to identify which will
achieve. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks.
