Thank you all that responded to my problem and setting the timer to 12
seconds fixed it. Another problem than appeared, grabbing calls from the
rittyrite window did not stop the timed cq function and caused more problems
than it was worth so stopped using it anyway. Is this normal? If so is
there a work around?

Thanks,

Dennis, the recent WW RTTY Contest was my first contest in many many years
and also my first time using Writelog. I found Writelog to be fantastic. I
enjoyed using the timed CQ feature. I had mine set to 9 seconds. I would
start
the timed CQ and keep my finger on the ESC key. If I heard a carrier come on
between my CQs I would press the ESC key which stopped the timed CQ. I
already had the cursor on the Rttyrite window ready to click on a call to send
my
reply. This worked great for me.
I have to admit that my friend, K6HGF, came to my shack and helped me set
up Writelog and gave me a great lesson on RTTY contesting. The help with
setup from K6HGF shortened the learning curve for me. I was amazed at the
variety of DX stations to be found during the contest. During the contest 48
hours
(I only operated about 12 hours) I worked more DX than I have worked since I
became a ham operator in 1950. I won't be submitting a great score for my
first effort but the experience was fantastic. I am very impressed with
Writelog
and MMTTY.
