Hi Joe,
maybe you already solved your problem...maybe somebody else will save
time...
In my case the solution is the following:
- when you do Writelog install under Vista it looks like two copies of
Writelog.ini are created.
- one copy is in the directory: c:\windows
- one copy is in the directory:
C:\Users\USERXX\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\WriteLog.ini
- the second copy is the one that is used and updated by Writelog
- the first copy is updated during the MMTTY installation
This is the reason why when starting Writelog you do not find in the RTTY
window pull down menu MMTTY...
Just open the writelog.ini file in the \windows directory, copy the two line
of code under the [RTTY] module and paste them into the writelog.ini file in
the other directory.
And now it is all ok!
Have fun!

Subject: [WriteLog] UPDATE Anybody have MMTTY Plugin working in
VISTA??

I just thought I would give you an update on my quest to get MMTTY working
in WL with MS VISTA.
No, I don't have it going yet. I found that the MMTTY Plugin Setup could
not write to the Writelog.ini file.
I had to go to Writelog.ini in the system32 directory and change the
permission to read/write instead of readonly. After that, it seems like the
Plugin installed correctly, at least no error messages. The correct lines
were added to Writelog.ini file.
I checked the register and the MMTTY Plugin was registered.
MmTtyTnc.dll is located in the c:\ham\programs subdirectory. (Thanks Don)
It looks like, but I cannot confirm that Writelog is NOT reading the
Writelog.ini file. One line in the Writelog.ini tells Writelog to add the
Name MMTTY to the dropdown list of TNCS. Even if MMTTY did not work, I
believe this menu item would showup if the Writelog.ini file was read.
Don't get me wrong, I do NOT think this is a Writelog, MMTTY or MMTTY Plugin
problem but more a "Permission"
problem with MS VISTA.
If I find out any more I will let everyone know.

Earlier I wrote:
"I installed MMTTY on my new Dell laptop running VISA.
All works FB. I then installed Writelog 1.64 on the laptop. No problem.
RTTYrite works fine, decodes rtty and CW fine.
But then I tried to install the MMTTY Plugin for Writelog. The setup
program worked and said it was installed but the MMTTY never showed up on
the RTTYrite menu. I just wonder if anyone has gotten this to work on MS
VISA?
I have been a Writelog user for a very longtime and have setup many
machines, so I do know my way around Writelog. Any help out there??"
Stop the insanity!
Please do not add me to any distribution lists (Joke, Stories or Junk)
without my permission.
