Eric,
I find that Ptouch labels work great on the key caps. They have a
clear plastic laminate cover and stick very well. Just print and cut
to size then affix to a "clean" key cap. I use an alcohol wipe to
ensure of a grease free surface. Mine have been on the keyboard for
many years and look like new.
Just like Ed, W0YK, the F-keys have a changeable color coded paper
label above of them - changes with each contest.
