I want to thank all the guys that sent me email with possible solutions
to my problem.
My USB to CIV cable would not communication with Writelog. Everything
was set correctly but just wasn't working.
So I got an e-mail from Joe W4TV (see below) on a possible solution.
That did not work either, but while I was working on the Writelog.ini
file in the [RIGS] section I
noticed the following:
[RIGS]
Com4:=19200,n,8,2
two stop bits? I remember a longtime ago that I had the same problem
communicating with my PK-232MBX and WL. The solution was to removed the
'2' but leave the comma.
Well, I tried that, now it looked like:
Com4:=19200,n,8,
And like magic the communications between the PROII and the computer
started working!!
I then went over to the next operating position that had a new computer,
a PROIII and the same cable/problem, but this time instead of removing
the 2 stop bits I changed it to '1'.
[RIGS]
Com4:=19200,n,8,1 It worked too!.
My rig at home, PROIII, using a normal serial port works fine with the
Com4:=19200,n,8,2. So I guess it is just the way the USB => CIV cable
wants to see.
BTW, this cable is one of the $1.99 plus $8.95 postage cables from Hong
Kong.
Just thought I would document the solution for anyone else that might
have the same problem. Special thanks to Joe W4TV.
