Well, John, you may have opened a real can of worms here, but it needed to
be done. If a station contacts another station by phone, e-mail, or
whatever means, in order to get a received number or "whatever", corrected
before sending in the cabrillo file, then that station should be
disqualified from the contest. Maybe the contest operators who monitor the
WW series of contests (or any contest for that matter) should take a close
look at that procedure and make a determination as to whether or not it's
legal as pertains to the rules of the contest. In simple terms, it's
cheating, even if it was 8 minutes after the contest started. He should
have submitted it as he received it and taken the busted QSO.

you supposed to obtain the correct call sign and serial number DURING
the contest?
