Hi, all concerned:

I believe that the meter problem is (was) a broken wire and a wire with
abraded insulation, both in the big bundle from the chassis to the front
panel at the bottom of the set.  A previous tech removed a cable tie which
was probably meant to keep the wires securely anchored out of harm's way.

In any case, I've done repairs and will be evaluating performance.  The fix
seems to have cured another problem as well, which surfaced when I started
using the sub-rx: its agc seemed dead, so it overloaded.

Whew.  Glad the wires were visible from where I could inspect the bundle
easily.  It's good to be a lucky tech sometimes ;o)
