How do I send in a topic for discussion?
I have installed the ATAS 120 in my attic using counterpoise wires. I would
like to know if anyone has advice on how to improve the set up.

Good evening all.
I've just finished installing the Inrad roofing filter mod for the FT-1000D.
Interesting little kit.
Recommend that if you attempt this kit that you have a very small iron
available. The space
is cramped, but it goes in. First impression is that is does slightly limit SSB
audio bandwidth,
but for me, it sounds great. I did no alignment touchup, but for the purest,
you can go through
the I.F. gain procedure. The noise blanker appears to perform better,
especially in crowded
conditions. AM mode bandwidth is now limited by this filter, but to a value I
believe, is more
useful. AM bandwidth sounds like about 2KHz. Anyone else can verify this? The
transmitter
should not be affected, by where it is installed. Now to give it the 75M test!

I recently installed the roofing filter in my FT1000MP and also noticed that
the noise blanker does seem to perform a little better. I did adjust the IF
settings in menu 9-1 and this receiver is really quiet now on CW with the
cascaded 500hz filters in line. I didn't notice it limiting SSB or AM very
much, and a call to INRAD confirmed that it shouldn't have as much affect on AM
or FM reception as they first though. Worth the money in my opinion, now I just
have to find a contest to try it out in.
