Hoppe's is not a lubricant. Its main component is a solvent, but with magical additions that serve to dislodge foreign matter that has been driven into metal. Follow the Hoppe's #9 with either gun oil or a drop of 90 weight or pump oil. What we are looking for is a lube "just this side" of grease.
