* Just working DX with an antenna is not proof that it is
* working as well as it could,

I just tried to work 160 with my 40/80 trapped dipole......
as expected SWR beyond acceptable values.
Had a the funny idee, and I disconnected the outer connector of the coax
( 40 meters long and 20 mtrs underground ) on the output of the BIRD 43,
would you believe, SWR was 1.1/1 . Luck ? The coax terminates at 14 mtrs
high on a balun 1/1..........
Worked Ireland - south France - Spain with 10 Watts this way.
Who can explain ?

but my cables just hang from the top and it seems to play well
