I use a shaft collar on the mast just above the thrust bearing. That way there

both lateral and thrust support.And then install the mast so there is no weight

just enough toreplace the rotator, which is a Ham III.  Rotator is shelf 
mounted about 2feet below the top thrust bearing.  All ideas are appreciated.
