I pulled connector 67 in the noise blanker line to remove the noise blanker control, in case the pot was shorted. It had no effect. In fact the noise blanker has litle or no effect at any time. I see

On most mics the shield will be mic ground, NOT PTT return. I have wired a few mics to the Orion by wiring shield(mic ground) to the appropriate mic ground pin, and wiring PTT return to the mic shell

I am using a Heil HC- 5 with Orion and mic gain is set about 33. No gain problems here.
