- A Scotchguard (tm) pad is a good way to polish a dirty board. If the board has coatings over the areas NOT to be soldered, then you may have to cut a pad up into smaller pieces to polish small areas

- Good point, although if a board is really badly oxidized, you may need the greater "tooth" of the green pad. White pads for light oxidation, if swabbing the board does not work. For non masked boards

- Oh the 1254 is a dandy short wave receiver. I put it together easily, and aligned it with CHU before they moved frequency. It then was right on on 40m and all other bands. WWV could be used as well,
