When a top hat becomes a "middle hat", it just makes the center of the antenna look fatter, which is bad for the current distribution. If you add the whip, lose the hat. Rick N6RK __________________

Yes, you don't need to worry about coupling. Also, I have shared ground systems with 3 beverages on a single end post without apparent degradation. Beverages are in general fairly non critical. I ca

I do this on my vertical. I have modeled it, and the disadvantage of sloping down is that the radiation resistance of the vertical is decreased somewhat, resulting in higher ground losses. However, y

I've done a lot of modeling related to this issue and my conclusions are that (1) you want maximum radiation resistance to minimize ground loss (2) this is maximized by making the antenna tall and s

No it won't. You need to use the horizontal antenna as a receive antenna and the inverted L as a transmit antenna. If your rig doesn't have an RX antenna input, add an external relay. Rick N6RK ____

Yes, I have tried that. I used some transformers from Mini-Circuits that acted as baluns and impedance transformers. This is extremely important, or else the feedline will act as a vertical antenna.
