One solution might be to get a DC to DC converter that will take in voltages even lower than 12 and produce a steady 12 output. However, I do not know the RFI specs on them. 73, Stuart K5KVH

Right, right Jerry, on PA, I was not thinking of that; I am not sure what I meant. Doing two things at once here! Hi! If they already have the LDO's then, there is just a lower limit at 12! I know my

My standard is running 24 hours on battery at Field Day. Unless we are running digital mode like PSK 31 or packet, ONE deep cycle or even car battery will last 24 hours and still be 12.2 volts or bet

Mine starts to drift at 11 volts or less. I think inside, a number of the circuits run on an 8 volt bus, which seems to jibe with your observations about voltage regulators. My Scout is fine at 12 vo

Last night I set down with my Scout schematics and found they do have the low drop out LM 2940 in mine, (some 7 plus years old). Mine does not drift at 12 volts, (and I know of none that do). Down ar

Good thoughts Bob, on added loss areas for the Scout power. I usually use larger wire than any supplier uses for transceivers. Kenwood is the only one usually adequate to my preferences. 73, Stuart K

If you want a gain Yagi of wire, you make a dipole for fed element, and another 5 per cent longer for reflector and one 5 per cent shorter as director. Spacing can be experimentally optimized from 0.

I think you should not leave the Omni VI off your list. Its resale will be in your range, when you decide. Its crystal mixing scheme is still a better receiver than anything else except a K2 perhaps.
