Steel would make the problem worse by providing a path for the magnetic field. You would need "mu metal" for a magnetic shield. The "clamshell" type cases that Tentec used often act as a shorted turn

I think of low pass roofing filters as shed roofs, where the rain runs all off one side and bandpass roofing filters as peaked roofs where the rain runs off both sides. Works for me! Dave, VE1ADH ___

The OMNI V RS232 port only works one way, You can control the radio but can't get data from the radio to the computer. I believe N4PY's OMNI 5.9 chip corrects this. Dave, VE1ADH ____________________

Those are computer grade capacitors and should not have been mounted that way. They should be mounted with the screws facing up, otherwise the plates can sag and short across the terminals. I believe
