To those who have had to re-string dials on older rigs, I need to replace the dial cord strings on my Argosy 525. Is this as difficult as I am reading it to be? I just don't want to screw it up even

Most of the Ten-Tec rigs with dial cords rely upon a section of elastic cord which Ten-Tec calls "bungee" cord. The bungee pulls the pointer to the left. Over time the bungee loses its elasticity. Wh

Then this might be the only problem I have. My rig tunes nicely but the red pointer doesn't move. I've had the cord kit sitting on my bench for a couple weeks but have been paranoid to take the front

The first time you take the dial off is a bit dicey..but the rest is common sense. The dial comes off fairly easily...use a very small screwdriver to hold the clip open to replace it. Read the manual

Also take a look at some pictures of the "inner" front panel and dial cord on my website at www.k9ew.net, under Projects, 525 PTO. You're right; the hardest part is getting started. Hope this helps.

N4LQ came up with an "Old Indian Trick" for putting the dial skirt back onto the shaft. He made a loop of dental floss and hooked the loop over the end of the D-spring. The loop worked great to open
