- I run a lot of digital modes and normally keep the power below 50 watts. Just occasionally - ie in contests - I need a little more power, especially using RTTY. What's the maximum power I could run u

- Part of the reason for running low power with the digital modes is intermod distortion that causes increased bandwidth, and part is the available power dissipation of the radio. I have confidence the

- I would think you could run 100 watts in a contest WITH THE TENTEC FAN MOD ( $49 USD ) ON THE HEAT SINK! Another option would be a computer fan behind the rig and one behind the power supply on some

- More important than power is a clean signal when using PSK-31. A QRP but clean (low IMD) signal is easier to copy than a stronger but dirtier (high IMD) one. During contests, those running higher pow

- Does this sort of distortion occur if I run the rig at a moderately low power output, and let a linear amp make up the difference? In other words, if I keep the rig running real easy and clean, will

- Even if you have a clean, low distortion signal, while using an amplifier, you need to keep the output to 50W or so to avoid causing AGC compression in the receivers of the other stations in the PSK-

- Someone asked why PSK? The answer is that PSK gets good data for the weakest signal to noise ratio of any data modulation method. 73, Jerry, K0CQ _______________________________________________ TenTe
