Comments: Was doing great till 40 died 1st night around 0100Z. Went
to 80 and felt weak. Fumbled around with 2 radio ops and lost QSOs. Quit
early and took all 6 hrs at once (new strategy via AA5B). On back after 6
hours and *learned* 2 radio ops on 20 & 15. Worth the trouble as netted at
least 100 extra QSOs, especially CQing on 15 all day while running on 20.
15 was like QRP/5 wpm band. 20 was full from 14002 to 14080. Never CQed SS
on 14002 before. Kudos to QRP guys as they know how to operate. They
provide fills quickly and in triplicate. Other guys seem to QRT when asked
for ck or section but the QRPers come right back. Found N7NG w/ 2nd rig on
20. Was only S5 and knew it would be tough when QRPers were beating me in
the pile up. 2 radio ops at end on 40 and 80 was another big plus. Thanks
to AA8FE who dropped in at end of contest to provide brewskies and same
advice K7UP has always said, QRS for casual ops at end of contest. Look for
Mike, AA8FE to win phone from K7UP.
