I always operate this test CW only, but condx were so rank Saturday, I
decided to say the heck with it and work mixed mode so I could work the
locals hanging out on phone. I remember people saying last year that it was
the worst condx ever for this test. My vote goes to this year. Took the kids
sledding Saturday for a few hours and missed most of Sunday morning due to
church activities. Got home in time to work some of the opening tho. Did
work 2 stations from northeast, MA and NS. Real loud sigs from FL and LU for
a while and that was about it. Never heard anything from the pacific. W0UA
operating from W0UN a few years ago in a 10m single band effort in ARRL DX
stated in his soapbox comments, "It was a real ratefest!" This was the
antithesis of that, but still fun as always.
